The Mayor of Calabar, Hon. Effefiong Nta Eke has reiterated his drive to collaborate with any local content initiative in Calabar Municipality.
He made this known while granting audience to Nigeria Institute of Builders, Cross River State Chapter in his office today.
The Council boss appreciated the leadership of the Institute for their pioneering initiative to encourage locals to find a career in building. He mentioned that all building constructions in Calabar Municipality are in conformity with well certified building codes supervised by our locals. As such, if the Institute structure a formal system of learning in our education formation it will boost the awareness of the people in the area of building for national development and a drastic reduction in the frequency of collapsed building ordeal in Calabar Municipality and Cross River State in general.
In his remark, the Chairman of Nigeria Institute of Builders, Cross River State Chapter Sir (Builder) Ekeng Ekpenyong Ekeng lauded the developmental strides of the Mayor in Calabar Municipality. He emphatically expressed his satisfaction in the serenity and clean ambience that girds the Council environs, describing it as ‘a neat environment’.
He went further to intimate the Mayor on the exigencies of building being factored into the mainstream of academic disciplines in Cross River State tertiary institutions.
In addition, Sir (Builder) Alderton Ewa thanked the Mayor for the audience and advocated that if building is domiciled in our tertiary institutions as a field of study, in the nearest future Cross River State will measure with other states in the production of certified Builders.
The visit which was part of the activities to mark this year’s Builders Day (scheduled for March 13th, 2021) climaxed with a tour to the construction site of the Ayade ultramodern park/shopping mall, a signature project of the Mayor of Calabar.
