For Inspection Of Constituency Projects/commissioning And Interface With The Fire Outbreak/ Windstorm Victims In Isabang Community.

Bridging the gap and being able to articulate and respond proactively to the needs of the people is one of the key proves of effective representation.

The Member Representing Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency In The House Of Representatives Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba who is in direct contact with the local populace kicked off a two days constituency projects inspection/Commissioning tour and interface with the fire outbreak/windstorm victims in Isabang community in Obubra Local Government Area.

Speaking in Ochon Ward during the commissioning of the newly built 3 classrooms block at the community secondary school Ochon facilitated through Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba pledged to continue to be grassroots sensitive and empowering at all levels.

Stating that the guiding principle in representation is trust and the primary essence of government is the welfare and security of the people. He acknowledged God for the successful completion of the project and he thanked the chiefs, youths, women and men of Ochon community for supporting the contractors to deliver the project with precision.

He affirmed also that the completion of the project symbolizes the fulfillment of his campaign Promise To The Women of Ochon who cried profusely for urgent intervention for a school to be built in Ochon to rescue the children from staying under the trees and dilapidated structures that are unfit for learning.

He called on the community to take ownership of the facility by putting in the required effort to ensure that the property is effectively utilized for the general good of all concerned.

He further reiterated that the building of the school is to support the Ben Ayade led administration that has been so focused on improving the standard of academic infrastructures at the grassroots and educating the rural populace through the State Basic Education Board And The Secondary Education Board Respectively.

The commissioning was followed by a thorough inspection of the various classrooms and a declaration of appreciation to his constituents for the show of overwhelming solidarity.

The Councilor Representing Ochon Ward Hon. Maria Denis Umoh applauded Rt. Hon Mike Etaba for fulfilling his campaign promise with the provision of a well equipped structure, a comfortable learning environment for the young people. Noting that Ochon Political Ward will never give him a reason to regret. She affirmed that the institution will be preserved and the legacy will be passed unto the next generation. She emphasized also that the entire community is forever grateful and prayed for more liftings and blessings for their representative.

Speaking His Royal Highness Igbang Felix Agongha the village head of Ochon Ward rained encomium on Rt Hon. Mike Etaba for the laudable project he has executed for the young population and for his people oriented approach to representation. He also posited that Etaba is a child of humility and called on God to continue to guide and protect him in all his life’s endeavours and decisions as the member representing Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency.

A community leader Mr Raymond Edim thanked Rt Hon Mike Etaba immersely for giving hope to the hopeless with the accommodation of the displaced children who had no befitting place of learning prior to this time. He further admonished him to provide a toilet facility and library for the school, light for the community and recruitment of the youths into the paramilitary department and agencies as well as employment for the people.

Speaking on behalf of the youths Mr Barnabas Edim Oduma expressed his excitement over the the people oriented nature Rt Hon Mike Etaba is piloting the affairs in Obubra/Etung as their representative. He declared that all Obubra Sons And Daughters are pleased with him and will continue to stand firmly with him till 2023.

In a separate remark, the head Chief Of Ochon, Chief Christian Okara Ikum Intimated that the people of Ochon could not benefit any tangible thing from government until the emergence of Rt Hon Mike Etaba and Obubra people are pleased in all ramifications. He Urged every other indigenes of Obubra to replicate his leadership style in building a formidable Structure for the much advocated new obubra.

In Isabang Community Rt Hon Mike Etaba commiserated with those affected by the destruction caused by the fire outbreak and windstorm. Noting that his sole purpose of visiting Obubra was to have that direct interface with the people of Isabang to let them know that they are not alone. He declared that he will continue to stand with them against all odds to ensure that the required succour is provided to facilitate their peaceful resettlement. He further commended the community leaders, chiefs, youths, and women for managing their communities well and ensuring the safety of their people inspite of the natural disasters.

He also admonished them to continue to be their brother’s keeper by being proactive and people oriented. He urged them also to take charge of their communities by being at the top of their game to know who enters and leaves their respective communities per time.
He donated cash gifts and wrappers for the affected victims.

In his concluding remarks, Rt Hon Mike Etaba thanked Governor Ben Ayade for his giant strides and for supporting the good people of Obubra when it matters the most. Noting that based on the unpredictable character of natural disasters, a thoughtful and well organized emergency strategy that is flexible and adaptable in the face of unforeseen circumstances is crucial to safeguard the economic, social and psychological fabric of our communities.

To ascertain the level of damage sustained due to the natural disasters he conducted an inspection tour round the affected locations.
