Media Practitioner’s Association of Nigeria (MPAN) Cross River State, Organises the Calabar Mega Photography Workshop in Collaboration with Canon held in Calabar.
The Event which took place at the Transcorp Hotel Calabar in two Phase (Morning & Afternoon) sections had in attendance over 300 plus Photographers & Videographers within and outside Calabar in attendance.
The Workshop is in commemoration of the World Photography Day Celebration 2021.
The Commissioner for Sports and Cinematography, Chief Offu Aya in his Opening Remarks Welcomes Canon to Cross River State and reiterated that Cross River State is a globally recognized tourist State that is richly blessed with rich forest reserve and natural resources.
Chief Aya inferred that all the contents they need can be created given the scenic atmosphere of the State.
Lauding His Excellency, the proactive Governor of the State, Sen. (Prof.) Ben Ayade, in the creation of a Ministry of Cinematography, the Commissioner maintained that Cinematography in the State is a fresh and untapped area capable of engaging young people and catapulting them to the global sphere in the entertainment industry.
He opined that the training on photography is a laudable one that would help to engage the youths, empower them and ultimately help reduce social vices and foster national unity.
The head of the Cannon team, Mr. John Obembe explained that the world photography day celebrated every August 19, is a day set aside to appreciate creativity as it concerns photography, it’s history, current trends and future opportunities for photography.
The workshop which was facilitated by Mr. John Obembe gave a run down of what Canon as an industry is and took the thrilled on Various Camera products produced by Canon.
Ranging from Canon’s new top-end EOS C700FF digital Camera, EOS C300 mark II digital cinema Camera, EOS C200 and EOS C100 mark II digital full HD Camera.
Detailing their features and how this cameras can be gotten from Canon’s agent partners located in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.
Mr. John went further to inform the participant the essence of the workshop which is to build capacities geared towards youth empowerment and training on the use of Cannon devices with due certification, adding that subsequently, the participants will be enrolled into the Cannon Academy to be trained on Film making, content creation, as well as fashion and Estate photography.
Also stating that Canon Nigeria is in the process of recruiting a channel partner in calabar, Cross River State to enable end users in Cross River State to get access to their products.
Mr. John ended his symposium with the statement that ” it’s not all about the Camera but the Person behind the Camera”.
In the closing remark the Chairman Mr. NSA Ekpenyong Etim thanked the participants who made themselves available for the Workshop and further reminded the audience of the World Photography Day Celebration 2021 which is a 6 km walk which will be flagged up at the Millennium park using the Carnival route and end ups at the Municipal Garden, while in the Evening they would be an Award and Dinner night.
